The OnePlus 11 eSIM service is said to be a new feature, although earlier they did not offer this feature on other flagship phones like the One 10T. Although the Apple Watch Series 3 introduced the eSIM feature in 2017, many believe that the eSIM service 11 may be inspired by Apple.

The feature of eSIM in OnePlus 11 seems to vary by region. Only models sold in North America will have this feature. It can also be found in some parts of Asia, including Europe. Although the global versions will also have the hardware, the eSIM service will be disabled through the software.

How to activate the eSIM feature

  • First, ensure that your OnePlus 11 is a compatible model for eSIM support.
  • Contact your mobile carrier and request that they provide you with a code for the eSIM activation.
  • Once you have the eSIM activation code, go to your Settings app.
  • In the Settings, navigate to the “Mobile Network” section.
  • Inside the Mobile Network section, you’ll find an option for “eSIM.” Tap on it.
  • You’ll be directed to another page where you need to enable the eSIM feature on your device.
  • On this page, you’ll see options to “Add eSIM” and “Reset.” Choose “Add eSIM.”
  • Follow the on-screen prompts, which typically include tapping “Next” on the following page.
  • You’ll have the option to scan a QR code provided by your carrier. If you don’t have a QR code, you can tap “Need Help” to manually enter a long activation code.
  • After successfully adding the eSIM, your OnePlus 11 will be ready to use for voice and internet services without a physical SIM card. Keep in mind that if you transfer your phone number from your old SIM card to the eSIM, the old SIM card will no longer be functional. If you ever need to switch back to a physical SIM card or switch to another phone, you’ll need to contact your carrier to obtain a new physical SIM card or eSIM activation code.

The OnePlus 11 eSIM service has been identified by OnePlus as a new network feature, especially for those who travel a lot. However, its regional usage restrictions seem to be criticized when Apple’s iPhones also support eSIM services in more than 190 countries. We are hopeful that, in the near future, they will relax the limitations of this feature.
