A major new leak from Android Headlines has revealed that ASUS is preparing a return to the tablet market with a high-end device designed to challenge the Galaxy Tab S11. The exclusive report includes official-looking renders and a partial spec sheet for a device simply called the ASUS Pad. After ASUS officially exited the smartphone market earlier this year, this tablet suggests the company is shifting its focus toward premium, large-screen portable tech.
A Display Built for Entertainment
The standout feature of the ASUS Pad is its 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display. This dual-layer technology (similar to the tandem OLED used by Apple) allows for much higher brightness and a longer lifespan for the screen.
For gamers and movie fans, the tablet is rumored to support a 144Hz refresh rate, making it smoother than many of its competitors. It also includes Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support, paired with stereo speakers for a high-end audio-visual experience.
Thin Profile, Big Battery
Despite its large screen, the ASUS Pad is impressively portable. The device is only 6.5mm thin and weighs just 523 grams.
Even with this slim build, ASUS has managed to pack in a 9,000mAh battery. While the specific charging speeds haven’t been leaked yet, the tablet will support fast charging. On the back, the design is clean and minimal, featuring a single camera and an LED flash housed in a small island in the corner.
Origami Case for Productivity
Accompanying the tablet renders are images of an official accessory: a transparent, origami-style case. The case features a unique folding stand on the back that allows users to prop the tablet up at various angles—perfect for watching videos or working at a desk. The stand likely doubles as a screen cover when the device is packed away.
What’s Still Missing?
While the visual and display details are clear, we are still waiting on the brain of the device. There is currently no word on which chipset will power the ASUS Pad or how much RAM it will carry. We also don’t have a confirmed price or a launch date just yet.
By targeting the 12.2-inch size, ASUS seems to be looking for a gap in the market, especially as other manufacturers focus on either massive Ultra-sized tablets or smaller base models.
