While the tech world has been distracted by rumors of a Wide foldable and the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Samsung’s most popular flippable is quietly preparing for a major structural overhaul. New leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 isn’t just getting thinner—it might finally solve the crease problem that has plagued the series since day one.

    A Lighter, Crease-Free Future

According to the latest insights from tipster Lanzuk, the biggest win for the Flip 8 is a redesigned hinge. This new engineering feat reportedly allows for a crease-free design structure, potentially offering a perfectly flat display that rivals competitors like Oppo.

But the improvements don’t stop at the screen. The new hinge is also helping the device shed some serious bulk:

    • Weight Drop: The phone is expected to weigh in at roughly 180g, a notable drop from the 188g found on the Flip 7.
    • Thinner Profile: Early measurements suggest the device will be about 0.5mm thinner when folded.
    • Width Tweaks: The horizontal length is reportedly seeing a slight increase, making the phone marginally wider than its predecessor.

The Catch: Great Design, Static Specs

While the exterior is getting a much-needed facelift, those hoping for a hardware revolution under the hood might be disappointed. If these leaks hold true, Samsung is playing it very safe with the internal components.

The 25W charging speed, which is increasingly looking outdated in 2026- is expected to return. Furthermore, the camera modules and battery capacity are rumored to remain identical to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Essentially, you are paying for a better-looking, more portable device, not a more powerful one.

    Pricing and Availability

Despite the stagnant specs, your wallet might still feel the pinch. Due to rising costs in the supply chain particularly the soaring price of RAM- Samsung is reportedly planning a slight price hike for the Flip 8.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to make its official debut this July, alongside Samsung’s expanding foldable lineup. If the rumors are accurate, the decision to upgrade will come down to one question: Is a crease-free screen worth a higher price tag?

    Editor's Take

I recently spent some time using my friend's Z Flip 7, and while that huge 4.1-inch cover screen is honestly a game-changer, I still couldn't help but notice my thumb catching on the crease every time I scrolled. After seeing the leaks about the Z Flip 8 potentially being crease-free with a thinner hinge, I think I'm going to hold out for that, I'd much rather have a display that feels like one seamless piece of glass.
